Synthetic oil
Germany has very little crude oil resources which Hitler realized early-on so they put a lot of effort into developing methods to make oil from coal which Germany does have a lot of. Problem is that they were never able to manufacture anywhere near enough of it to sustain all of the military activit...

German capital ships`
Based on what I have read, yes I believe that Germany would have been better off by skipping the battleships and concentrating on u-boats. Not just more u-boats though but more advanced ones that could run faster underwater etc. etc. Most historians agree that the early successes of the u-boats in 1...

Hitler and conquering the world..
Yes I believe it's apparent that Hitler did think he was invincible and was destined to rule the world so it is likely that he wanted India too. I have an old newspaper story describing captured German documents detailing what they planned to do when they captured the USA. A pipe dream of course but...

German shipwrecks in the Danube
There is a new story from Germany about some German ships that were sunk in the Danube to make it impassable for the advancing soviet navy. With the extremely low water levels now, the top decks of some of these ships are now above the water line. The new article doesn't give any ship names but does...

88MM guns
There is (or was) a website with lots of photos of the flak towers in Berlin, Hamburg etc. and they had some real good reasonably close-ups of the 88s that were mounted on them. Don't have the URL any more but maybe try a search.

East German Worker's uprising - 1953
This is the 50th anniversary of the uprising against the communists in east Germany. Also about that time, there was some plotting amongst former Wehrmacht members, Guderian included, to try something to involve the US and Brittain and force the soviets out of Germany. Obviously this never got too f...

Germans = Nazis??
In the 40s, people had far less access to information than now and far fewer sources so many average people were far less "worldly" and obviously did not know the difference between an average German and a "Nazi". If you will read newpaper and magazine articles from during and af...

Yes Germany obviously didn't put enough research and development into heavy bombers etc but most agree that the major blunder was focusing the bombs on London instead of the RAF airfields, armament factories and other military targets. Had they of done this and then found a way to deal with the Roya...
