Yes, I can't imagine the enormous difficulties associated with creating such a comprehensive casualty list. Yet, still there's some progress being made in this field in the last decade. Friulian institute for the history of resistance - IFSML - completed "the count" a few years ago, a simi...

Counting the dead

There was a point being made in the now locked topic as to why there's no institution researching the number of deaths in Poland during the WWII. I'd like to continue with this discussion and my question is - how many countries in continental Europe have done and completed comprehensive research on ...

Loic, SS-Pol.Rgt.19 had a normal structure of 3 battalions, each with 3 infantry and one heavy company. The regiment also had a Panzer-Jäger Kp. plus an attached 13.(verstärkte) Polizei Panzer Kp., though I'm not sure if the latter followed the regiment to France. Do you have any info on SS-Hstuf. E...

Again very interesting stuff, Larry. I think the question would be best answered by those who have the access to the apropriate monthly divisional Gliederungen. I took a quick look in Munin's books, unfortunately their books aren't particularly strong in this respect. What I did find is next: I.SS-P...

Hi Lorenz! It doesn't work for me either %E . The reason is most probably - work in progress. Like GenLts, pages for GenMaj from letter M onwards are also unavailable. I'm sure they'll (re)appear in the near future, in the meantime you can use Feldgrau's Officer Biographies Database , which has the ...

Feuerzauber units?

From Feldgrau Under the code designation "Feurzauber," units composed of cadre personnel and recently inducted trainees were organized into several waves of special assault troops. The elements comprising the first wave consisted of four battalion staffs commanding nine rifle companies, tw...

I came upon two different German sources mentioning the use of zimmerit-like paste on Soviet tanks, dated for 1941-42, so prior to the implementation of zimmerit on German panzers in 1943. Obviously, or rather it would seem so, this wasn't a general practice in Red Army but could the German decision...

I seem to remember this topic being discussed in the past, if I'm not mistaken by one the two ToE experts (or both) already mentioned in this thread. Like always tring to find something I wasn't able to find it but as far as I can remember, as already mentioned in this thread, the difference between...
